2011 MadFish Grandstand Riesling Reviews

The keenly priced MadFish is the second label from top producer Howard Park, with fruit sourced from the south-west regions of Margaret River and the Great Southern. Grandstand is a delightful, unpretentious drink-now wine with citrus and floral fragrance, plus the appealing wet-pebble character that some Riesling can express. Soft talc-like acidity gets the tastebuds going. Some salty whitebait would be a great match...

Smells like quality lime juice cordial with a faint, lifted prickle of steely minerality. The palate is lithe, airy and fresh with more citrus, some grapefruit intensity and a gently talc-like dryness to finish.

Made from a single estate-owned vineyard nicknamed 'The Grandstand' by the vineyard workers because of its elevation and view; has a fragrant, flowery citrus blossom bouquet, then an intense palate with lime and mineral tightly wrapped around each other through to the long finish.

Smells of melons and cut grass and has good length of lemon/lime flavours.
