2008 MadFish Moscato Reviews

An attractive, pale salmon-pink colour introduces this 5.5 per cent alcohol moscato. With a slight CO2 spritz in the mouth, it has muscat and raspberry aromas and finishes with a lick of sweetness, plus a touch more richness and backbone than most local moscatos.

Grapey, juicy, low in alcohol, lightly fizzy, refreshing. Beach, summer, barbecue, pool; perfect.

MadFish, the second label of Jeff Burch's Howard Park Wines, has been one of the great successes of the last decade. But more importantly it delivers tonnes of flavour and value for drinkers... The new Moscato is sweet, crisp and grapey.

This is made from the gordo blanco variety but enhanced with a splash of gewürztraminer. Fermentation was stopped at just 5.5 per cent alcohol so a spritzy character was carried across to final bottling. This would be a perfect alfresco aperitif...
