2008 MadFish Grandstand Shiraz Reviews

In a lightweight bottle that saves 27% glass (always a good thing) comes this latest brand from the people of the Howard Park wine stable. The Grandstand label reflects wine from a certain vineyard in South West Australia that the vineyard people have attributed high quality to. I like the spicy inherent deep berry filled character of this red with upfront fruit, seamless there oak and a lingering long, smooth finish that is moreish. A very good debut I say and value at that - quality and affordability all in one place. Try it with roast pork. - Very Good.

The Howard Park stable of wines seems to have exploded of late. The good news is, many of them are excellent quality. It's a spicy, peppery, cool-climate style of wine with enough berried oomph to give it widespread appeal. Dry tannin and funky, smoky, rubbery edges add texture and interest. Medium body. Enough length to satisfy. Good BBQ/Bistro style.
