2006 MadFish Carnelian Reviews

This variety was created some years ago by Professor Harold Olmo. It's a combination of cabernet sauvignon, carignan and grenache. Generally suits warmer areas producing a full and soft, supple palate. This is a nice example of the variety with dark plum and chocolate flavours supported with ripe plush tannins.

This has me stumped. It's from the horribly cold 2006 Margaret River vintage and yet it's rich and warm and bold. It's made from the carnelian grape, which is a result of Harold Olmo's experiments in crossing cabernet sauvignon, carignan and grenache. A 'field blend' in the one grape.
