2005 MadFish Premium White Reviews

Full aroma ? redolent of melons, pears and crisp juicy apples. A touch of wet stones/minerality adds to the complexity. On the palate a combination of crisp acidity, rich mouth-feel and plenty of those melon and pear flavours. Unoaked but a buttery/creamy edge to the palate with an elegant citrus finish. Alcohol 13%.

MadFish is a consistently good WA producer at this price point. Here is an unwooded chardonnay that has cool, zesty, white peach and nectarine characters, good intensity and lively, zippy acidity.

For the second year running I cannot recommend this wine highly enough. The combination of quality Western Australian fruit and skilful winemaking results in a faultless wine of great character. It opens with leaping lemon zest and fruit aromatics, followed by riper, almost tropical flavours. There is a hint of spice, and a long, lingering aftertaste. Perfect for a hot summers day with or without food. Make sure you try the other MadFish wines as well ? they are all great. Look out for the equally delicious 2006 vintage, out soon.

A fruit-driven style with subtle oak supporting it. The nose shouts of passionfruit and there is some very varietal sweet passionfruit flavours that are both fresh and aromatic

This white blend has a little more weight than most. That?s because it is predominately chardonnay with a bit of sauvignon blanc, rather than the other way around. The chardonnay gives it more flexibility ? it?s a white that will go with a salad as well as something more substantial.

A gorgeous light pale straw. Its aromatic nose exhudes a litany of classic white peach and sweet melon characters along with lemon and lime essences. Zesty young and fresh, the acidity is well melded with fruit flavours to deliver a smooth soft fruit driven easy drinking white wine. A good bistro style white that will go with an array of modern Australian cuisine. Good value?

Bright yellow. Fresh, leesy and buttery citrus and orchard fruits on the ripe nose. A fleshy wine, with good heft to the ripe orange and melon flavors; a dusty mineral note adds complexity. Finishes on a bright note of green apple, with subtle honey and butter tones coming up on the back.
