2005 MadFish Chardonnay Reviews

The price has steadily risen for this wine, simply in recognition of the quality, which has always been good, and remains so; a mix of melon and grapefruit, with positive barrel ferment characters; good length. Drink 2007-2011.

MadFish is a second label of the highly regarded Howard Park enterprise. Howard Park?s experience with chardonnay in both the Margaret River and Great Southern regions of Western Australia shows. It?s subtle, but it?s not lacking personality, with an attractive pear, citrus and nutty aroma that?s very appealing. It has lovely smoothness and finishes clean.Drink over two years.

MadFish is a bit groovy and lifestyley but the wines are nearly always excellent and usually over-deliver on price.Aromas of stonefruit, lemon, almond meal and some smoky barrel ferment characters. On the palate mouthfilling stonefruit, citrus and honey almond with some savoury lees characters. It is juicy and fruity yet still retains a sense of refinement and elegance. Clean fresh acidity and a fruity yet crisp finish. A wine with such a sunny cheerful disposition you can?t help but love it. Drink 2007 ? 2009.

What a beautifully drinkable, high class chardonnay. Wow. Pure, long and silken, it flows through your mouth on robes of grapefruit and citrus and melon, subtle toast-like favours trailing off behind. It?s a refreshing wine, and a lovely one. Drink 2007-2009.
