2004 MadFish Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Reviews

Pure blackcurrant fruit nose with some red berry fruit. Forward and bright. The palate has nice supple berry fruit that's quite bright and juicy. I get some leafy Cabernet characters, but they are ripe. Lost of fruit, quite fine.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (61%) Merlot (30%) and Cabernet Franc (9%). An intense, lightly tannic palate - savoury rich with a touch of sweet-fruit. A touch of strawberry on first sipping but this subsides into a black-fruit intensity enlivened with a red-berry sharpness and touches of cherry, plum and chocolate notes. Juicy finish. Matched with a delicious lamb dish beautifully. Alcohol 14.5%.

This is a cabernet merlot blend from Western Australia. It is really good drinking. A blackish purple crimson, it is alluring, intense and vibrant. Lots of blackcurrants, black olives, plums on the nose with hints of dried herbs and liquorice. Some smoky oak nuances accompany the distinct, concentrated and persistent fruit characters really well. The smooth velvety tannins make for a well rounded finish and provide a lingering length.Drink 2006-2011.
