2003 MadFish Premium Red Reviews

Medium bodied; perfectly ripened blackcurrant and cassis fruit; fresh mouthfeel and finish; minimal oak; fine, ripe tannins. Top value. Drink 2010.

There are few wineries in the world today who can boast a range of wines that consistently represent the value for money that Howard Park achieves in its MadFish line. There hasn?t been a wine amongst recent releases that I cannot confidently recommend, and this Premium Red is a great example of why this is the case. The wine is enticingly elegant and definitively varietal with 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, exuding textbook characters of red currant, roast capsicum, coffee, leaf and stalk. The palate is finely structured with attractive tannins and it finishes long.An elegantly fruited, unmistakably varietal wine, this is a true premium red at a mouth-watering price! A very good wine. Best drinking around 2006 ? 2010.
