2008 MadFish Sangiovese Cabernet Franc Rosé Tasting Notes

Composition: Mixed Composition
Region: Mixed Composition
Technical Notes:

The 2008 MadFish Sangiovese Cabernet Franc Rosé is unique in style. It was made from Sangiovese sourced from the Harvey region of Western Australia and from Cabernet Franc sourced from the Howard Park Leston Vineyard in MargaretRiver. The grapes were harvested at full ripeness of colour and flavour and crushed and de-stemmed into red fermentation vessels at the MargaretRiver winery. Following 24 hours of contact between the juice and skins, the juice was then pressed off to stainless steel tanks for clarification and fermentation. The juice was then treated like a white wine with fermentation proceeding at 10-12’C. As a result, the wine displays a vibrant crimson red colour while retaining the classic aromas of Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc. The wine was bottled under screwcap seal.

Tasting Notes:

The 2008 MadFish Sangiovese Cabernet Franc Rosé has a wonderful bright crimson pink colour. The bouquet is lifted with aromas of fresh raspberries and mulberries and displays underlying complexities from the Cabernet Franc. The use of the second variety in the blend adds intriguing aromas of black pepper spice, smoky tobacco leaf as well as contributing to the textured palate. This wine will leave the mouth with a vibrant, crisp and refreshing finish and is best enjoyed chilled with friends, food and conversation.
