2007 MadFish Gold Turtle Tempranillo Tasting Notes

Composition: 100% Tempranillo
Region: 100% Tempranillo
Technical Notes:

With such great affinity for the climatic conditions of Western Australia, the vineyard parcels of Tempranillo selected for this wine ripened well in the 2007 vintage. Senior Winemaker, Tony Davis has been working with the Tempranillo variety for several years, with vineyard management and grape quality being of utmost importance to the finished wine. The 2007 MadFish Gold Turtle Tempranillo was created in open fermenters, hand plunged and pressed at dryness. Maturation occurred in two and three year old French oak barriques for 18 months, which provided subtle, savoury complexities and supporting tannin structure to the fruit characteristics of the wine.

Tasting Notes:

The wine displays great depth of colour with lifted aromas of black morello cherry, cinnamon, cloves, and dried roses. Its spine of textured rustic tannins is complimented with rich plum, dark chocolate flavours and moderate acidity. It is a medium bodied wine, rich and dry with good depth and a firm savoury finish. “The 2007 MadFish Gold Turtle Tempranillo looks to be an exceptionally promising wine, best enjoyed with tapas, pizza and good friends.” says Tony.
