1700 film buffs descended on the lawns of the picturesque MadFish Wineries in Margaret River and Denmark over the long weekend in March for the special screening of Sony Tropfest 2008, the world’s largest short film festival. xxx In its third year at the winery in Margaret River, the films were screened on two nights attracting a sell-out crowd both nights. This was the first year that Tropfest was screened at the beautiful winery amphitheatre in Denmark.
Guests came from far and wide to enjoy the unique outdoor film experience of Tropfest at MadFish, and were treated to a specially priced selection of MadFish wine and gourmet food from local vendors.
Tropfest has been a major highlight on the Australian film industry calendar since 1993 and showcases the work of some of the world's most talented short film makers.
The lucky number “8” was chosen by Tropfest organisers as the Tropfest Signature Item (TSI) this year, which made for some very entertaining films. Actress Naomi Watts led the celebrity judging team this year, choosing Marry Me, by Michelle Lehman as the winning film for 2008.
